Why Should I Consider Two Hearing Aids?

Understanding People in NOISY SURROUNDINGS

Background noise makes it hard to hear what others are saying.  If you are sitting around the dinner table at a family event and other family members are talking, you may not understand what the person next to you is saying.  Two hearing aids improve the brain’s natural ability to filter out background noise.  This will often reduce your need for amplification, making background noise less annoying than ever before!

A Fuller Sound Picture

If you hear equally well out of both ears, sounds are more comfortable to listen to.  You won’t have to strain to hear, and sounds have the clarity and depth which give you a sense of space and volume.  It can be compared to the difference between listening to a stereo vs. a monaural (mono) broadcast or record/tape/CD.

Reducing the Risk of AUDITORY DEPRIVATION

Auditory deprivation occurs when the brain loses some of its ability to process information from un-aided ears for a long period of time.  With auditory deprivation, the brain “ceases to listen”, because it cannot process the “garbled“ input provided by the ears.   That’s why it’s essential to use two hearing aids as soon as possible.

Your Sense of SOUND DIRECTION

When you are talking to several of your neighbors, or children/grandchildren, they are often speaking from different directions.  The brain needs input from both ears to tell us from which direction a sound may be coming from.   This ability is called sound localization.  If you’re crossing a busy street or driving a car, this ability may save your life one day.
